LOCATION : TREVISO - Italie
PROGRAM : Renovation and extension of a 1920’s residence, underground fitness and Hammam. Built-in cabinetry and Joinery. Landscape Design
APPOINTMENT : Architecture and interior design
DATE : 2003
The challenge to completely refurbish a 1920 private residence placed in the middle of an exceptionally green property not far from the city center of Treviso is enhanced by the heavy structural works required to reclaim this beautiful building to its status of high standard residence.
The project provides a complete rethinking of the interior layout as well as the design of extensions affecting the exterior facades.
Of the consistent extension of the house floor area only a minor part is visible and materialized by the design of a green-house like volume attached to the main facade and housing a large living room open towards the garden. An underground extension houses a fitness and wellness area as well as a hammam room.
The underground spaces receive natural light from glazed linear slots on the concrete ceiling structure, visible at garden level as built elements participating in the landscaping design.
The hamman room is light by the vibrating natural light filtering through a water basin placed at the center of the ceiling.
The two cars parking area has been slightly excavated so to have the pergola shading this area to come at the same level of the garden so to allow the climbing plants to form an extension of the landscaping.
The interior layout design has completely reviewed the house inner ergonomics by introducing a new position for the stair connecting ground level to the first floor.
Externally, the architectural features of this 1920 building have been respectfully restored while interior spaces and fittings show a refined, clean-cut contemporary design approach.
All fittings and joinery elements have been custom designed specifically for this house.
